Quick, I need a stick of chewing gum and a paperclip!
October 3, 2011I must have watched too much MacGyver when I was young..
I can now treat malaria using materials found in the carbonated beverage aisle of the grocery store. I have purified quinine from tonic water!
I can also distill fuel to rush you to the hospital and give you a stiff drink to make you not care about the quinine’s nasty taste. (Distillation of ethyl alcohol from a fermented solution!)
Next we’ll be analyzing tomato soup and carrot juice for nutrients of some kind (I’m a little fuzzy on that one..) and then we make aspirin! For the hangovers, no doubt.
Organic chemistry lab is a lot more useful than I’d anticipated!
